Template and Tenure

Bob Machin will talk about the local system of land tenure, and the hierarchy thereof.  Bob is a wonderful speaker, author of books such as "The Great Re-building of Britain" and "The Houses of Yetminster", a graduate of Oxford University and former Lecturer at Bristol University.

A sluice gate by Sibley and Sons of Parrett Works


Extracted from SIAS Bulletin 107

In 2007 these gates were removed by  the Environment Agency from the River Parrett at Langport, where they were thought to be an obstruction and thus a potential cause of flooding.

Dawes Twine Works West Coker

The Dawes Twine Works are having an open day on Good Friday, 02 April 2010. Details have still to be confirmed but my understanding is there will be an exhibition in West Coker village hall and the opportunity to view the outside of the rope walk. Due to restoration work being carried out access inside the ropewalk will not be possible. More details will be posted when known.
